Welcome to the third edition of our information risk management newsletter in 2007! - Dirk Bosmans (CEO Ascure)

Dear,

With the summer season coming to an end, all of us are gearing up for a hectic fall. I hope all of you were able to charge your batteries during a well-deserved holiday.

At Ascure we didn’t sit still during summer. We have moved to a new, larger office – in the same office building at the Bijenstraat in St. Denijs-Westrem. With the number of Information Risk Management Consultants continuously growing and the increased activity of our Ascure Academy, the need for larger, more appropriate offices became apparent. More news on this further down the newsletter.

The growth realized, is clearly linked with an increased number of customers that trust Ascure with their Information Risk Management projects. One prime example is “De Lijn” – who hired Ascure for their Identity and Access Control Management project. More detailed information on this reference case can be found in this newsletter.

In this issue you will find an overview of our Ascure Academy education activities
Enjoy the reading and if you would have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Happy reading,

Dirk Bosmans

CEO Ascure

Ascure Stories: The BIG Move!

Because of the spectacular growth Ascure moves to bigger offices

Gent, the 29th of August 2007 – Ascure has its offices since 2000 in the Bijenstraat in St-Denijs Westrem and will from the 3th of September on move to bigger offices (of 400m2) in the same office building. Because of the spectacular growth of the last years, the need to move to a bigger location had become top priority. This year, already 8 new staff members joined the company and in the following months others will follow.

The Ethical Hacking Operations Center, from where Ascure security engineers will not only perform security assessments for customer, but also conduct research to new and emerging threats, perform testing on new technologies and techniques, analyzing targeted countermeasures against vulnerabilities,… will get a dedicated space in the new offices.

There will also be several dedicated training rooms for the Ascure Academy, the awareness and education center for information risk management and information security. These especially designed training rooms are equipped with the newest technologies regarding presentation techniques to facilitate highly technical (hands-on) courses as well as strategic and tactical management courses. This is entirely in line with the unique level of personalization and professionalism that is being offered through the Ascure Academy.

Because of this move Ascure will have a limited phone, e-mail and Internet availability from Thursday the 30th of August until Monday the 3rd of September.

From the 3rd of September on Ascure will be fully operational at the following address:
Bijenstraat 16, B-9051 Sint-Denijs Westrem (Gent), tel. 09/243 10 20, fax 09/243 10 30.

Ascure Reference Case: Identity & Access Management @ De Lijn

28th of August 2007, Ghent (Belgium) – ‘De Lijn’, the commercial name of the Flemish Transportation Organization, has as mission providing transportation in and between cities in a social and economic accepted way to the entire Flemish community. ‘De Lijn’ has a clear community service and contributes a lot in managing and controlling today’s mobility problems. The flexible and targeted approach and the high quality in service have to make the ‘De Lijn’ more attractive to existing and potential customers. Furthermore ‘De Lijn’ wants to grow to an organization that can unify the accessibility and availability in a harmonic way.

Since ‘De Lijn’ is a governmental organization it has to follow the laws and regulations concerning government projects. Via a negotiation procedure without publication, there have been selected 6 companies who have been contacted to make a proposal. When all proposals were received we immediately noticed that the Ascure approach matched very closely with our expectations. All the tasks that were going to be done, were clearly defined and described in the Ascure proposal, they assigned a business project leader which was going to guide us during the process of thinking and the link between business and ICT realization. We clearly knew which problems we had; it was tackling these problems that were a bigger concern, according to the security officer of ‘De Lijn’.

A business project leader that thinks with us and very searches in a pragmatic manner after a solution that is in line with the needs on short term as well as a long term and even better, who works together with us, that was what we were looking for, added Lea Ceulemans.
